Spend the Night: Numeroventi

"Interdisciplinary Artist Residency where you can also stay."

I usually arrive in Florence at the Stazione di Santa Maria Novella (SMN). It's the main railway station in Florence with 15 platforms.  As I depart the train I am instantly filled with the giddy excitement of being back in one of my favorite cities. Everything feels familiar and I feel instantly at home. Suitcase in hand, I take a quick 19 minute walk to my stay, which is about 1.9km away. Pass the Duomo, eye a few gelato shops, and soon you arrive at the interdisciplinary residency and boutique apartments, Numeroventi. This stay is located in the historical Palazzo Galli Tassi, a former Syrup Factory, Casa Nobile and Ministry of Agriculture dating back to 1510... so note that there's no elevator.

Numeroventi was conceived in 2016 as a non profit organization. It was a space where artists and designers could come and enrich their practices by developing them deeper in the heart of Florence.

This stay is always incredibly inspiring. Rooms are furnished with plenty of art, continually being changed and refreshed with new installations. A shared kitchen allows you to have to convenience of cooking if you wish or storing any food & drinks. After staying in one of the lofts don't be surprised if the thought of moving in doesn't become more and more tempting. The rooms are spacious, light, and airy with big living area and cozy sleeping quarters. After a glorious nights sleep, head downstairs for breakfast (Monday-Friday 08:30-10:30) where they serve a seasonal breakfast in the lounge and courtyard. Numeroventi's in-house chef prepares baked goods along with fruits and vegetables thoughtfully picked from the local market.

Spread out over three floors with an impressive courtyard, the five-metre-high ceilings, large windows, ancient frescoes, curated design and artistic interventions are renovated in a style that draws inspiration from the artists that Numeroventi hosts, all to contribute to an experience of silence and contemplation. During your stay you’ll have access to our historic courtyard and lounge – and a seasonal breakfast from our café is included. Activities, events, food, drinks and events offered, such as yoga and concerts are available for you.
